Congressman Pat Harrigan on Sunday expressed his support for the U.S. military strikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities in three locations.
“The United States executed a highly successful strategic strike against Iran’s nuclear weapons infrastructure,” Harrigan said in a news release. “Our B-2 bombers penetrated deep into Iranian airspace, struck critical facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, and completed the mission without detection or resistance. This operation demonstrates the unmatched precision, reach, and effectiveness of American military power.”
Harrigan, a Republican who represents Iredell County in the U.S. House, said President Trump had offered the Iranian government a diplomatic solution while promising a military response if the regime did not acquiesce.
“I fully support the President’s decision,” Harrigan said. “These strikes were necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and to protect American lives in the region. They reflect a return to serious foreign policy—rooted in deterrence, strength, and the strategic clarity our adversaries understand.”
Harrigan also offered praise for the military service members who carried out the mission.
“Their professionalism, courage, and technical skill remind the world that the United States remains capable, decisive, and unwilling to allow hostile regimes to threaten global security with impunity,” he said.
There is no evidence Iran was in the process of developing a nuclear weapon.
If Donald Trump (who made a unilateral decision based on his own extremely limited knowledge & understanding of, well, anything) hadn’t scuttled the agreement for monitoring & more by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, also known as the Iran nuclear deal made by Obama–we’d have known exactly what Iran’s nuclear capabilities were.
So far, there is no evidence that Iran’s nuclear capabilities were set back in any measurable way as Trump telegraphed his intent for days before attempting to remove his parade debacle from the front page. Clearly, any nation would have used that time to prepare for a strike.
Our military and our citizenry is LESS SAFE because of this action which was based on nothing more than Trump’s self-interest and your ceding of Congressional power to him. A whole new generation of anti-American zealots has been created that, unlike Donald’s preference for last-second decision-making (his boast), play the long game.
If you are this uninformed, easily misled, or just plain ignorant of any facts related to Trump’s, to date, most dangerous attempt to change the negative headlines with this “wag the dog” act, you are as unqualified as he is to be in a position of power. However, that is a moot point because you and your fellow Republican House members have no power now because you surrendered it to Donald Trump.
