James “Jim” Martin Stroud, 92, died on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at his home following a long battle with cancer. He was born on November 4, 1932, in Davie County, N.C. He was the son of Richard Guy and Pauline Godbey Stroud.

Jim served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He was the owner/operator of a dairy farm for 47 years. He then transitioned to Beef Cattle. He also enjoyed working at Statesville Auto Auction as a Lane Captain. Jim’s hobby was working. He enjoyed working on the farm, tractors, and cutting wood. Most of all, he loved his family. He also was the oldest member of Society Baptist Church.

He married Imogene Morrison on August 16, 1958. They have been married for 66 years. They had four children, Pamela S. Carrick (Bob), J. Richard Stroud (Queena), Kay S. Kurfees (Charles), and Kevin Gene Stroud (Angie). Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Katie G. McGarity (Kyle), Ryan, Rachel and Ricky Stroud, Meredith K. Morrison (Brandon), Madelyn Kurfees, Ashley Stroud, Kailey S. Davison (Ryan) and Kendell Stroud (Johna); two step-grandchildren, Robert Carrick and Amy Randolph; seven great-grandchildren, Everly and Ellington McGarity, Eli Stroud, Kayden Stroud, Jace and Liam Davison and Makinley Stroud; and five step-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Isaac, and Amelia Carrick, Grayson and Ellis Randolph.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, at Society Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Pastor Kevin York officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow the funeral in the Society Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
