Mr. Ronnie Jones Sr. departed this life peacefully at the age of 77 on June 19, 2025, at Novant New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington, N.C. Ronnie is the son of the late Jesse William Jones and Blanche Mullis Jones. He was born in Ashe County on May 5, 1948.

Ronnie was an avid UNC Tar Heels basketball fan, which would be obvious to anyone due to the amount of Tar Heels clothing he owned. Need to know the starting time of a game or some random final score of a sporting event? No worries, Ronnie knew them all. He loved going to the beach, and playing at the arcades along the strip, earning enough tickets to buy stuffed animals for his grandchildren. His favorite pastime included watching Westerns and game shows. In his younger years, he coached the women’s softball team at Holly Farms. He was also the proud owner of a pink ‘67 Mustang.

He attended Beavercreek High School in West Jefferson. For 33 years, he worked at Holly Farms/Tyson. Ronnie was a devout member of Trinity Baptist Church located in Mocksville. He loved going on visitation with Brother Gary every week. Every time he was in the hospital, his only wish was to get better so he could attend church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and eight brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Tammy Morrison and son Ronnie Jones Jr. (Kimberly); five grandchildren Jessica West, Kayla Sims (Jonathan), Hope Morrison (Seth), Dylan Jones (Miranda), and Dalton Jones (Ashleigh); three great grandchildren Chase Nance, Weston Nance, and Zayde Jones. He is also survived by one brother, Rex Jones (Deborah); and many nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be held on Saturday June 29, 2025, from 12 until 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church followed by a burial service at Rose Cemetery, Mocksville, N.C. Pastor Darrell Cox will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Ronnie’s name to Trinity Baptist Church, 2722 US Highway 601 South, Mocksville, NC 27028.
