RALEIGH — N.C. Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey is reminding residents to be aware of changes to automobile insurance policies that took effect on Tuesday.
The changes, which are the result of recently enacted legislation, will impact insurance premiums for some policyholders, including for experienced and inexperienced drivers.
Among key changes are increases to minimum liability limits for insurance policies and surcharges for new drivers, as well as changes to points for convictions of moving violations.
“It’s important for consumers to understand how these changes could affect them,” said Commissioner Causey. “Our goal is to make sure the public has all the information they need to make informed decisions about their policies. We want them to be able to navigate these adjustments smoothly.”
