Pastor Donna Lynn Cherry Torrence, daughter of the late Robert and Ella Louise Cherry, was born on November 20, 1959, in Mooresville, N.C.

She departed this life peacefully with her loving husband right by her side on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Roy Cherry, Curtis Cherry, Donnie Cherry, and Randy Cherry; one granddaughter, Janiah “NaNa” Hall; one grandson, Kelvin Nesbit; and one sister-in-love, Demetria Neely.

She attended Mooresville City Schools. Donna was ordained as a pastor by Freedom Christian Center, until she founded Crown of Life Ministries, where she pastored faithfully alongside her husband for 13 years. She was an employee at Summit Place of Mooresville as a CNA for 11 years. She then retired to care for her parents and pursue ministry full time.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 33 years, Pastor Victor C. Torrence; one son, Rodney Hall of Mooresville, N.C.; three daughters, Tanisha Hall McCorkle of Mooresville, N.C., Katrina Pride of Charlotte, N.C., and Candus (Kelvin) Nesbit of Troutman, N.C.; two brothers, Kenneth Cherry (Carol) of Mooresville, N.C., and Robert Lee Cherry of Statesville, N.C.; one sister, Rev. Paulette White (Johnny) of Killeen, Texas; mother-in-love, Jeannette Brown of Mooresville, N.C.; three sisters-in-love, Cora Johnson (Christopher) of Troutman, N.C., Gloria Miller of Salisbury, N.C., and Deseree Austin of Troutman, N.C.; four brothers-in-love, Murdock Brown of Mooresville, N.C., Roger Torrence of Mooresville, N.C., and Malcolm Torrence (Christina) of Troutman, N.C.; 13 grandchildren, Jacquavion Brown, Romeo Pride, Amaya Pride, Ashanti Littlejohn, Jasmine Pinkston, Janasia McCorkle, Kynztons Hall, London Hall, Jalen Robinson, Rashiya Hall, Aaliyah Nesbit, Daewon Nesbit, and Kelvin Nesbit III; two great grandsons, Syn’cere Pride and Kaysen Chanthaheuang; best friend, Dr. Wanda Smith; her mentor, Rev. Dr. Debra Hall; three godsisters, Phyllis Alexander, Pattie Reid and Helen Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 12, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. with a service following at 1 p.m. at Higher Purpose Church, 407 W. Wilson Avenue, Mooresville, NC 28115. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
