Elizabeth “Liz” Gamble Bowers, 76, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Novant Health in Huntersville, N.C. She was born on February 26, 1949, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., to the late Thomas Reid Gamble and Betty Joel White Gamble-Moore.
She retired after 25 years of service from the Finance Department at A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis. Liz was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Troutman, where she served as the Lay Leader. Liz loved her Lord, the church and its congregation with all her heart. She served on various committees to help guide the church upward towards the future.
Liz had many talents. She loved to do crafts, sewing and painting. She could do anything she put her mind to do. She also loved to travel with the love of her life Earl and her family throughout the years. Liz enjoyed making her house the gathering spot for any special occasion and the holidays. She was always the happiest when her family was at her house laughing, talking, and eating. She was kind, loving, and welcomed everyone with her arms wide open. Liz was the jewel of her family and she sparkled like the diamond she truly was. She will be missed by everyone beyond all words.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Kathy (Kat) Ballard and Sherrye Jane Gamble; sister-in-law Patricia “Trisha” Bowers Rodden; and brother-in-law Tommy Rodden.
She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her survivors, including her loving husband of 52 years, Earl Bowers; her son Johnny Bowers (Jenny) of Statesville, N.C.; daughters, Heather Bowers of Troutman, N.C., and Betty Bowers Rockwell (Josh); grandson Dominic “Domi” Rockwell of Statesville, N.C.; brother, Frank Gamble (Susan) of Cornelius, N.C.; sisters, Pat Barnette (Danny) of Hiddenite, N.C. and Nancy Baldwin (David) of Landis, N.C.; brother-in-law, Mike Bowers (Hazel) of Troutman, N.C.; sister-in-law, Teresa Bowers Everwine of China Grove, N.C., and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored, and last but not least her beloved dog Barney.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, N.C. The Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 12 noon at Wesley Chapel located at 579 Weathers Creek Road, Troutman, NC 28166 with the Reverend Todd McCullough officiating.
