Touting his record of strategic problem-solving and dedication to managing the city’s growth and preservation, Lange said he is ready to serve Statesville with integrity and vision.

“My wife Sheila and I chose to move to downtown Statesville from Huntersville in 2008. We were looking for some place that was different from suburbia. We saw in Statesville an appreciation for tradition, an extraordinary sense of community, and a character all its own,” he said in his campaign announcement. “The makeup of the Council after this election will change dramatically, and we will have a new mayor. Now more than ever, we need steady, experienced, and collaborative leaders who have vision to ensure Statesville continues to grow and thrive.”

Lange, 64, is co-lead of the award-winning Lange Homes Team with Allen Tate Realtors, where he helps families and investors achieve their real estate goals. In 2024, he was honored with the Barbara Tate Legendary Service Award, recognizing his exceptional commitment to clients, colleagues, and the community.

He has more than three decades of corporate and project management experience, including work as a project executive and consultant for MCI and IBM, where he directed multimillion-dollar projects and built strong, high-performing teams.

An advocate for smart growth and historic preservation, Lange has held numerous public service roles, including chairman of the Statesville Planning Board (2019-2024); Planning Board member 2017-2024); member of 2045 Statesville Land Use Planning Committee (2023-2024); member of the Statesville Historic Preservation Committee (2015-2017); vice chairman of the Huntersville Planning Board (2005-2007); Huntersville Planning Board member (2003-2007); and
representative to the Charlotte Transportation Advisory Group (2004-2007).

“Throughout my career, whether in corporate boardrooms, real estate negotiations or public meetings, I’ve built a reputation as someone who listens, builds consensus, solves problems, and gets things done,” Lange said. “That’s what I will bring to City Council, and I look forward to working collaboratively with current and future city leadership.”

Lange said that his private-sector and public service experience give him a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing Ward 5 and the broader Statesville community.

If elected, he said his priorities will include:

♦ Expanding Infrastructure: Developing funding strategies to expand the Fourth Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and improve infrastructure.

♦ Implementing Strategic Plans: Advancing the 2045 Land Use Plan, Transportation Plan, and Greenway Plan to support smart growth, enhance quality of life, and grow the tax base.

♦ Following Through on Vision: Supporting implementation of the City’s Strategic Plan to ensure continuity and long-term progress.

♦ Improving Education: Exploring creative, cooperative solutions within the city’s limited jurisdiction to improve public schools, including stronger advocacy with county and school board leaders.

Todd and his wife have lived in downtown Statesville since 2008. They have three adult children, Colette, Keaton and Howie, and a granddaughter Ava. Todd’s father, Chuck Lange, is also a proud Statesville resident and lives with Todd and Sheila.
