Gary West has filed for re-election to his seat as at-large commissioner on the Mooresville Town Board of Commissioners.

“After prayerful thought, and conversations with my wife Connie, I have decided to run again,” West said in his campaign announcement. “There are still some things I need to see through.”
Chief on his to-do list are encouraging smart growth and investing in the town’s infrastructure. He also vowed to work “to curb excessive growth that is not in our best interest.”
As a Marine and former law enforcement officer, West said he is passionate about supporting efforts to keep the community safe, which he said is the key to quality of life.
“In order to continue our excellence for both the Mooresville Fire-Rescue and Mooresville Police Department, we have several initiatives in the works,” he said. “This includes key items for Mooresville Police, to keep crime down. This includes Mooresville Fire-Rescue — initiatives such as the much-anticipated Fire Station 7 in order to keep our ISO 1 rating.”
West said he would continue to advocate for the Downtown parking deck, as well as completion of the new and improved Moor Park.
