The Statesville Woman’s Club installed 2025-2026 officers during the organization’s June meeting.
Special guests were welcomed and recognized. Past Presidents in attendance, Joanna Gaither, Jennifer Griffith, Linda Lavinder and Sandra Ball Poole were acknowledged. Past Presidents unable to attend were Fran Baker, Janet Hall and Pat Smith.
Miss Statesville’s Teen 2025 Camdyn Lee dropped by the meeting to talk about her anti-bullying platform, “It Begins With YOU” (Youth, Overcoming, and Uplifting).
During the meeting, the club was presented the award from the General Federation of Women’s Club for Club Creativity in Signature Program: Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention that had been announced at the international convention held in Atlanta, Georgia, in June. The award was in conjunction with a dedicated podcast the club had hosted on the subject.
Two Past Club Presidents were recognized for milestone years of membership. They included Joanna Gaither (30 years) and Linda Lavinder (50 years).
Club President Dana White gave a summary of her time as the club president and the club’s year-end report, recapping major club projects before her term was completed. She was then recognized with tokens of appreciation from the club.
GFWC-NC President Karen Throckmorton and GFWC-NC President-elect Cindy Hewitt were the installing officers. Officers installed were: Kim Mulrey, president; Denise Bair, First Vice President; Wanda Rushton, Second Vice President; Carmella Hoover, Co-Secretary; Linda Lavinder, Co-Secretary; Sue O’Malley, Treasurer; Debra Turner Bailey, Assist Treasurer; and Dana White, as Immediate Past President.
Newly installed Club President Kim Mulrey then shared her memories of her journey from joining the Statesville Junior Service League to being installed as the new club president. She then presented her theme for the 2025-2026 term, “Rays of Sunshine.”
NEXT MEETING
The next club meeting after the summer break will be on Thursday, September 4, at the historic clubhouse located at 515 West End Avenue. There will be a time of Social Fellowship at 5:30 p.m. and Meeting at 6 p.m. All members, guests and interested women are invited to attend.
