A Statesville man has been convicted and sentenced to serve a maximum of 12 years in prison for his role in the overdose deaths of two women.

Kaylan Obrien Brandon, 30, pleaded guilty in Iredell County Superior Court on July 7 to several charges, including felony death by distribution and involuntary manslaughter in connection with the November 2023 deaths of Brittany Peace and Heather Wilson.
Brandon was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Lisa Johnson-Tonkins to a minimum of 8.5 years and a maximum of 12 years in prison. He was transported to Craven Correctional Institution on Monday to begin serving his sentence, according to the N.C. Department of Adult Correction.
Iredell County EMS personnel pronounced Peace, 33, and Wilson, 35, after responding to a call at a home on South Meeting Street on November 1, 2023.
After finding narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the home where Peace and Wilson died, the Statesville Police Department opened an investigation. Evidence collected at the scene led investigators to Brandon, who was arrested later that day, police said.
The SPD expressed its gratitude to the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office for its work on the case, particularly Assistant District Attorney Chris Cleaveland.
“This case highlights the city’s ongoing commitment to holding individuals accountable for the unlawful distribution of dangerous drugs,” the SPD said in a news release. “The Statesville Police Department remains dedicated to pursuing those responsible for overdose-related deaths and ensuring justice for victims and their families.”
