Statesville City Councilwoman Doris Allison has announced her campaign for re-election for the Ward 3 seat.

“Today, I stand before you, humbled and proud, to announce my candidacy for re-election to represent our vibrant community on the Statesville City Council,” Allison said in a message to Ward 3 residents. “For years, we’ve worked tirelessly together to transform our neighborhood, and I’m eager to continue our journey.”
Allison touted work done by council and city employees to improve public safety in her ward in recent years.
“When I first took office, South Statesville faced daunting challenges,” she said. Daytime shootings and fear gripped our streets. But we didn’t let that define us. We rolled up our sleeves, and with determination, grit, and a commitment to ‘One Voice, One Community,’ we began to build a brighter future.”
Crime has declined by 97 percent, she said, and new residential construction is now abundant and “long-neglected street” are now safe and paved.
“Through strategic partnerships and a steadfast dedication to inclusion, investment, and integrity, we’ve proven that even the most troubled areas can be revived,” Allison added.
While on council, Allison said she has fought for the working class, for parents and families to ensure they have a safe and thriving community.
“I’ve listened to your whispers and your shouts, and I’ve worked tirelessly to ensure every voice is heard,” she said.
Allison said the newly redrawn Ward 3 is a microcosm of the city’s diversity, and she is committed to representing every resident in her ward — from Hidden Lakes to Armstrong Street.
“I’m not just campaigning – I’m recommitting to our shared vision for a prosperous, inclusive, and vibrant Ward 3,” she stressed. “I’m inviting you to join me on this journey to build a future where every voice matters and every perspective is valued,” she explained.
“Let’s keep building together. Let’s keep believing in the potential of our community. I’m honored to serve, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
