Emily Bosshart, a mother, licensed real estate agent and graduate student, has officially filed to run for an at-large seat on the Statesville City Council in the November election.

She currently works at Yokefellow Ministries, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families in crisis, and she also operates as a freelance marketing consultant supporting real estate professionals and small local businesses throughout the area.
Bosshart said her decision to run for council is grounded in lived experience and a passion for service.
During the campaign, she will not accept financial contributions or donations. She is self-funding the effort with a cap of $500. This is an intentional decision to increase transparency and avoid conflicts of interest.
“While I’m in graduate school, my family simply can’t afford a flashy campaign, and that’s the point,” she said. “I want voters to know I’m here to represent them, not special interests.”
Bosshart said her campaign will center on three key issues:
♦ First, expanding public transportation infrastructure to improve access to jobs, schools, and healthcare.
♦ Second, improving housing affordability; everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home.
♦ Third, strengthening food security, an issue she confronts daily through her work at Yokefellow.
“Upward mobility, and sometimes even basic survival, depends on transportation, housing, and food,” Bosshart explained. “When we empower citizens, we strengthen Statesville as a whole.”
