Two men face felony charges following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Cody Jett
John Mazzullo

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of John Anthony Mazzullo, 55, of Crestridge Road, Statesville, and Cody Shane Jett, 24, of Mountain View Road, Statesville, in a news release.

ICS narcotics detectives received reliable information that Mazzullo was staying at the Masters Inn located at 702 Sullivan Road in Statesville and trying to avoid arrest on multiple outstanding warrants for felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, felony conspiracy, felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, and misdemeanor injury to personal property.

Investigators began conducting surveillance of the motel and determined that Jett was supplying large amounts of methamphetamine in Iredell County, the sheriff said.

Mazzullo was located and taken into custody on Wednesday.

Investigators subsequently obtained a search warrant, searched Mazzullo’s hotel room, and located evidence connecting Jett to drug trafficking, according to news release.

When Jett returned to the area, ICSO deputies conducted a traffic stop and found a half pound of Methamphetamine worth $22,700 in his vehicle, Campbell said. Jett was arrested at that time.

Both Mazzullo and Jett were taken to the Iredell County Detention Center.

Mazzullo was served with his outstanding arrest warrants and appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson, who issued a $50,000 secured bond on these charges.

Jett was charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine by possession, felony trafficking methamphetamine by transportation, and felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance. He also appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson, who issued no bond because Jett was out on bond for unrelated charges.

“This is another example of law enforcement and the community working together to reduce crime and make our community safer,” the sheriff said.

The investigation is ongoing.
