James “Buck” Alexander Brown, 79, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House following an extended illness. He was born in Iredell County on December 24, 1945, to the late James Robert Brown and Maude Elizabeth Douglas Brown.

James was a truck driver and of the Methodist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert (Bob) Brown; and two sisters, Patricia Short and Ann Walker.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Cynthia Ann Harwell Brown of the home; one daughter, Angela Brown Wishon (Carma) of Stony Point; one grandson, Dalton Wishon, and wife Kendra; one great granddaughter, Everlee Wishon; and one great step grandson, Austin Eberly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A very special thank you to his whole Hospice of Iredell County team and Alexis Steale, the best hospice nurse you could ever ask for. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Stony Point Methodist Church Cemetery. Johnny Chapman will officiate. There will be no formal visitation.

Chapman Funeral Home is serving the Brown family.
