Harry “Pop” Lubright Ruddy Jr., 88, of Olin, N.C., passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Pop was born April 22, 1937, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Lillie Mae Fox Ruddy and Harry Lubright Ruddy Sr. He was an active member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. He loved going to church, praying and reading his Bible. He also enjoyed woodworking and watching old Westerns. Pop coached many sports when Harry III was a child, and he played AAA baseball until a knee injury forced him to stop playing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marina Pancione Ruddy; brother, William D. Ruddy “Bubba”; and sisters, Sylvia Ruddy Robinson, Linda Ruddy Carter, and Vanona Ruddy Woodard.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Harry L. Ruddy III; sister, Nancy Ruddy Andrews; and special friends, Karen Schulz, Trina York and Chasity Dillard.

Funeral services for Pop will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 15, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Dancy and Pastor Bill Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord. The family will visit with friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children’s Ministry of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 145 Mount Vernon Church Road, Olin, NC 28660, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
