Eight individuals were arrested and a ninth is wanted in connection with an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigation that culminated in raids on a pair of suspected drug houses.

On Friday, August 8, member of the ICSO SERT team and narcotics investigators executed search warrants at 222 Hidden Lakes Road and 1719 Wedgedale Avenue, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation after receiving information from residents. Prior to Friday’s drug raids, undercover purchases of illegal drugs were made from both residences, Campbell said.

When ICSO personnel arrived at 222 Hidden Lakes Road, seven adults, one juvenile, and two infants were located.

During the search, investigators located 21 grams of methamphetamine, 35 dosage units of subutex, along with various items of drug paraphernalia consistent with drug use and sales, according to the news release. Several items of drug-related paraphernalia were found in the rooms used by the children, which prompted ICSO personnel to contact the Iredell County Department of Social Services, Campbell said.

All seven adults were arrested, and the children were turned over to the Iredell County Department of Social Services, according to the news release.

As the scene was being cleared at 222 Hidden Lakes Road, several neighbors and community members thanked the narcotics investigators for cleaning out this location, Campbell said.

Evidence recovered by ICSO personnel at 1719 Wedgedale Avenue.

During the ensuing search at 1719 Wedgedale Avenue, investigators located a felony amount of marijuana, four firearms, and drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.

One person was arrested, and warrants were taken out for the arrest of another suspect.

“Our SERT Team was used at both locations due to the large number of suspects, some with significant criminal histories,” Campbell said. “These highly trained deputies are equipped to handle such high-risk operations. We want drug dealers to know that Iredell County is not the place you want to try to conduct business. We have more investigations ongoing and will continue to work these cases until we catch these offenders.”
