Jonathan Ribbeck has been hired as chief of schools by the Mooresville Graded School District.

A seasoned leader with a strong background in instructional leadership and school improvement, Ribbeck joins MGSD after a distinguished tenure with Iredell-Statesville Schools, where he most recently served as the chief elementary academic officer and executive director of elementary education. In this role, he was responsible for supervising instructional programming and school improvement for 17 elementary schools, providing one-on-one coaching to principals and assistant principals, and overseeing multiple district departments.
Ribbeck’s experience also includes a successful period as an elementary school principal for I-SS from 2009 to 2017. During that time, Ribbeck was named Iredell-Statesville Schools Principal of the Year twice (2011-2012 and 2013-2014), and he was a finalist for the same award in 2016-2017. He also received the Teacher of the Year Award in 2003-2004 at Monticello Elementary.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Jonathan Ribbeck to the Mooresville Graded School District,” said MGSD Superintendent Jason Gardner. “His proven track record of elevating student achievement, supporting school leaders, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement aligns perfectly with our district’s mission.
“We are confident that his leadership will be a tremendous asset to our students, staff, and community,” he added.
Ribbeck earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Oswego and a Master of School Administration from Appalachian State University.
