Joseph “Mark” Pope, 61, of Mooresville, N.C., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He was born in Charlotte, N.C. on March 29, 1964, the son of the late Donald Ray Pope, Evelyn Keeter Pope and stepmother, Ruth Harris Pope.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Francis Pope and Michael Ray Pope; and brother-in-law, Carl John Hagen III.

Mark was an avid fisherman, both surf and freshwater. He loved trips to the OBX with family and friends, as well as fishing and camping at local lakes. He enjoyed hosting cookouts for his family and friends with the fish he caught. Mark was also an avid bowler. He bowled in several leagues at Spare Time in Huntersville, where he met and fell in love with his wife of 21 years and where they made many life-long friends. In addition to fishing and bowling, he loved turkey shoots, throwing horseshoes and playing cornhole. He was a fun-loving and caring guy who never met a stranger.

Mark was a manager at The Austin Company. He worked there in various positions for almost 43 years.
Most important to him was his family, and he will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

He leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by his survivors, including his wife, Theresa “Terry” Hagen Pope, and son, Logan, both of Mooresville; his brothers, Scott (Shelly) Pope of Dallas, N.C., and his twin brother, Matt (Christy) Pope of Huntersville, N.C.; brothers-in-law, Don (Carol) Hagen, and Ralph Hagen; and sisters-In-law, Stephany Williams, Lisa Wimbish and Connie Hagen; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A service honoring Mark’s life will be held at the Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Charlotte in his memory.
