Foundation For The Carolinas has awarded a $20,000 grant to Lake Norman Humane to support the construction of a low-cost spay and neuter clinic that will provide critical services to pet owners in the community. The clinic is part of the organization’s effort to reduce euthanasia rates and prevent unwanted litters through proactive, accessible care.

The funding is part of FFTC’s 2025 Community Impact Fund awards, which support nonprofits across the Foundation’s 13-county region. The Community Impact Funds are made possible by donors who entrust FFTC with flexible philanthropic resources to address urgent and emerging needs in the communities the Foundation serves.

“Receiving this generous grant is transformational for Lake Norman Humane and the Giving With Grace Spay and Neuter Clinic,” said Dane Kelley, executive director of Lake Norman Humane. “It will allow us to bring our vision of a dedicated spay and neuter clinic to life, ensuring that every pet in our community has access to affordable, life-saving services. This support directly advances our clinic’s mission to end pet overpopulation and reduce shelter intake through proactive, compassionate care. We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to expand our impact and give every animal the chance at a healthier,
happier future.”

The new clinic will serve the public and is expected to significantly expand access to preventative veterinary care for underserved pet owners, helping reduce overcrowding in local shelters and improving the long-term health of animals in the region.

“This is a powerful example of how our Community Impact Funds can strengthen local organizations and improve quality of life for both people and pets,” said Laura Clark, president of Foundation For The Carolinas. “We’re proud to support Lake Norman Humane in advancing its mission and expanding its reach in Iredell County.”
