Robert Ray Turner, 78, affectionately known as “Bobby,” of Mooresville, N.C., passed away suddenly at his home on August 23, 2025.
Bobby was a man of simple joys and a big heart. He loved fishing, playing poker, listening to country music, collecting coins, vacationing at the beach, and watching westerns — especially anything starring John Wayne. He was a faithful attendee of Mt. Mourne Church of God and cherished his morning breakfast outings with close friends, holding each of them dear. He also cared deeply for his special friend, “Little Jimmy,” who is homebound.
Bobby worked for the Town of Huntersville for many years before retiring from Food Lion. In both his work and personal life, he was known for his loyalty, hard work, and dedication to those he loved.
He is survived by his children, Scottie Turner and wife Dawn, and Betty Gerring and husband John; his siblings Roy, Linda, and Joyce; his grandchildren Merissa, Jacie, Amber, Meagan, and Erika; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruby Turner; his wife of 57 years, Judy Irene Crump Turner; and his siblings Betty Lou, Mildred, Buddy, Jerry, and Billy.
In accordance with Bobby’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, or mourning, or crying, or pain.” – Revelation 21:4
Bobby will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
