Russell Vonkeith Redmon, lovingly known as “Juice,” passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 50 at Levine and Dixon Hospice House in Huntersville, N.C. Born on May 26, 1975, in Iredell County, N.C., Russell was the beloved son of Russell V. Houpe and Barbara Paulette Frazier Carpenter.
He was a proud graduate of Statesville High School, Class of 1993, and worked as a machine operator at Tyson Chicken Plant. Russell was known for his sense of humor, his generous spirit, and his deep love for his family. He was a member of New Life Church and will be remembered as someone who brought light and laughter to those around him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Russell V. Houpe (Margie); his mother, Barbara Paulette Frazier Carpenter; his children, Shyhiem Stevenson, Tylonda Smyre, and Khaziya Stevenson, all of Statesville, N.C.; his siblings, Antonio Tyree Kerns of Salisbury; Eric Carpenter of Statesville; and Erica Carpenter of Statesville; godmother, Veronica Sherrill; godsister, Talia Jade Cowan; godbrother, Tristian Ikima Cowan; aunts and uncles, Phyllis McBride of Kannapolis; Brenda Houpe of Cleveland; Joe Donald Houpe of Burlington, N.C.; Larry Dean Houpe (Doris) of Raleigh; and Beverly Wilson of Trinity, N.C., Bernetta Cayemiette of Statesville, Marisha (MacArthur) Rembert of Nashville, Tenn., Wallace Staton and Marlon Staton, both of Statesville; nieces and nephews, Tallon Lee Barnes, and Sanjay Antonio Kerns both of Salisbury, N.C.; five grandchildren, Amiya Smyre, Quentin Lee Curruth, Serenity Lee Curruth, Malaya Zariana Stevenson, and Ava Tucker; special aunts, Bernita (Rydell) Cowan, Linda (Tommy) Feimster, Octavia Ingram, and Barbara (Bernard) Robinson; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by many beloved family members who now welcome him home in eternal rest.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Rutledge & Bigham Mortuary in Statesville, N.C., with burial to follow at Belmont Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 3:30 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Russell will be remembered for his laughter, his loyalty, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
