Our Beloved Mother, Mamaw and Great-Mamaw, Beverly Summers Hager of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was 86 years old.

Born on November 17, 1938, in Mooresville, she is the daughter of the late Clyde Lewis and Jewel Marchand Summers. She was a graduate of Mooresville High School and worked as the manager of Shoe Show for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Garner Martin (Curtis); brother, Donald L. Summers (Lois); and late husbands Glenn Brown and David Hager.

She is survived by her first husband, Robert Garner; daughter, Terry Garner Gilliland (Gene); grandchildren Kyle Gilliland (Lauren), Cody Gilliland (Kayla), Ethan Gilliland, Lee Spiva (Lisa), Andrew Spiva (Laura), and Nicole Harrison (Gerald); and eight great-grandchildren; as well as extend family, friends and a very special childhood friend of 80-plus years, Marlyin Beaver.

She had a strong Christian faith and trusted in the Lord’s decisions throughout her life. She loved her family immensely. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her such joy, and she adored them to the fullest. She always tried her best to attend their sporting events, parties, and all celebrations. Family gatherings filled her heart, and she enjoyed cooking her special foods that the kids loved: meatloaf, banana pudding, lemon pie, cherry-o-pies. Terry and her mom loved their special time together going to grab a bite to eat and doing a little shopping. She had such a green thumb when it came to planting her flowers. She loved feeding and watching the hummingbirds as they came by. Being outside was calming for her and she enjoyed sitting on her carport visiting with her sweet and loving neighbors that were always present to lend a hand.

Beverly was such a blessing to others. She cared for many loved ones during her time, and we know her crown will have many jewels. God used her in many ways, and we are so grateful for the life she led and all the good she gave to others.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home followed by a short service at Glenwood Memorial Park, where her final resting place will be alongside her family.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the family of Mrs. Hager. Condolences may be made to the family at www.cavin-cook.com.
