Iredell-Statesville Schools announced Wednesday that Jerrica Scott has been named the principal at Troutman Middle School, and Derrick Wishon has been named the principal at North Iredell High School.
The I-SS Board of Education approved both appointments during Monday’s meeting.
Troutman Middle

Scott currently serves as the assistant principal at Hanes Magnet School in Winston-Salem. Prior to her administrative role, she worked for ten years at several schools in Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools (WSFCS), teaching in grades 5-8. She was most recently named a finalist for the WSFCS Assistant Principal of the Year and was the WSFCS Teacher of the Year in 2016.
She is delighted to return to the school where she once walked the halls as a student and is committed to creating a culture where each student feels valued.
“I am truly honored to serve as the principal of Troutman Middle School, a place that helped shape my own journey as a student,” Scott explained. “Returning to this community feels like home. My goal is to foster a school environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and celebrated. Together, with our dedicated staff and families, we will continue to make Troutman Middle a place where students grow into the best versions of themselves.”
Scott earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Winston-Salem State University, an AIG licensure from Duke University, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University, and her school administration licensure from Gardner-Webb University.
She will begin her new position on September 18.
North Iredell High

Currently an assistant principal at South Iredell High School, Wishon is no stranger to the North Iredell community. He served as a math teacher and athletic coach at the school for 10 years before accepting roles in school administration at Troutman Elementary and South Iredell High. He has proven himself as an exemplary instructional leader in each of these roles, district officials said.
Wishon expressed that North Iredell High School is a special place and emphasized his commitment to students’ continued success in and beyond the classroom.
“I am honored to serve as the next principal of North Iredell High School,” he said. “This school has always held a special place in my journey as an educator, and I am excited to return and work alongside such a dedicated staff and supportive community. Together, we will continue the tradition of excellence at Raider Nation. Go Raiders!”
Wishon earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and Principal Fellow.
He will begin his new new role on September 22.
