Statesville High School students had the opportunity to participate in the annual Student Appreciation Day on Friday.
Members of the community worked together to organize the student-centered event. Grill 4 God, Foundation of Hope Ministries and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, along with Angela Matthews, set up events on campus for students to enjoy school and socialize. “These events help bring our community together and provide the students with a sense of purpose and value,” Matthews said.
Grill 4 God provided hot dogs for over 1,000 students and staff, Foundation of Hope served sno cones and organized a variety of games, including cornhole, tic tac toe and Jenga. An art table with various activities was located just inside the common area. Statesville Police Department officers participated alongside students playing cornhole. A gaming truck was also onsite for students who enjoy online gaming. Dozens of volunteers helped with setup and cleanup.
