Sue Russell Dixon, 88, of Statesville, N.C., passed from her earthly body and entered the presence of the Lord on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Born in Iredell County, March 5, 1937, she was the daughter of the late M.C. Russell and Mary Justus Russell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Reginald “Reggie” Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Don Russell and Bill Russell; and one sister, Catherine Russell Cowan; as well as her brothers-in-law, Kenneth Cowan and Allen Josey.
She was a long-time member of Western Avenue Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. She had many clerical roles but was mostly known for working at L. Gordon Iron and Metal, from where she retired.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Dixon Sherrill, and her favorite son-in-law, Tommy Sherrill. She will also be remembered fondly by her grandchildren, Ryan Sherrill (Julie) and Morgan Cook (Joe). Also left to cherish her memory are her great-grandchildren, Gracie and Levi Sherrill. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Colene Russell, Donna Josey, as well as Claudia Register, and a number of extended family members, including nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Sue’s life will be conducted graveside on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Iredell Memorial Gardens by Dr. Jeff Spry. There will be a receiving of friends following the graveside service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
