Nancy May Norcross Raymond, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at the age of 85, at Cadence of Mooresville. She was born on May 19, 1940, in Bloomfield, N.J., the daughter of the late Sterling E. Norcross and Jean Thomson Norcross.

Nancy’s life was marked by compassion, strength, and a deep commitment to caring for others. She built a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse, serving with dedication at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, N.J. She also worked for years alongside her late husband, Dr. Louis Francis Raymond, as the nurse in his ophthalmology practice. Her kindness and steady presence made a lasting impact on the many patients, colleagues, friends, and family who knew her.

Outside of work, Nancy lived with a spirit of joy and love. She was an avid ballroom dancer, enjoyed cooking meals that brought people together, and cherished time in and around the water. Some of her most meaningful moments were swimming and playing with her grandchildren, Miles and Mia, and caring for them when they were young. She was a steady, loving presence in their lives, shaping memories that will endure for a lifetime. Nancy also had a lifelong love of dogs, who were her loyal companions and a source of comfort and happiness.

Nancy is survived by her devoted son, Lou Raymond, his wife Lilly, and her adoring grandchildren, Miles and Mia, all of Cornelius; and her lifelong companion, Ed Azarian, of Mooresville. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia Bischoff of Raleigh, N.C., and her brother, Sterling Norcross of Bloomfield, N.J.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. Louis Francis Raymond.

A Celebration of Life service honoring Nancy will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider contributions in her name to the Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org), honoring her memory and the courage with which she faced her final years.

Nancy will be remembered most for her warmth, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely. Her family and friends are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support during this time.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family.
