Carol M. Lozell, 81, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born to Richard and Frieda Jessup, Carol grew up in upstate New York. She was a cosmetologist by trade, which she gladly gave up so she could raise her five beautiful children and become the wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and great aunt that she was. In her free time, she loved to sew, needlepoint and work on puzzles, and she was the best baker ever. Her greatest passion though was raising her family and loving her pups.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold; her children, Tammy Lozell, Chris Lozell (Dan VanWinkle), Jack Lozell, Freida Lozell, and Michelle Weller (Ron Weller); and her grandchildren, Matthew Lozell, David Weller and Emilee Weller. She is also survived by her adopted family, Al and Barbara Hunton, and their children, Schuyler and Maria. She is also survived by two brothers, Jack Jessup of California and Billy Jessup (Sue) of Georgia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Patricia; and two brothers, Arthur Jessup and Richard Jessup. She was also preceded in death by her beloved puppies, Duke, Dutchess, Scrappy, Woofy, Jax and Stella. These pups were also her children, and they were the one thing she always felt was the consistent reason for her peaceful nature.
To honor Carol’s wishes, the family will not have any service. We invite you to please privately celebrate Carol’s memory in your own ways.
Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family.
