Patricia “Patti” Geier Young, 77, passed away peacefully at home in Mooresville, N.C., on September 22, 2025, following a courageous battle against cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Michael; their wonderful daughters, Meredith and Miranda; and generous brothers, John and Robert Geier. Patti was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Delores and John Geier.
Patti was strong-minded, with a caring spirit, and deeply devoted to her family. Patti married Michael in 1991, and together they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Meredith and Miranda. Their journey took them from Louisiana to Texas and ultimately to North Carolina, where the family has happily resided for the past 22 years. In addition to her close family, Patti had a special fondness for animals — her dogs were never far from her side and enjoyed the same warmth and affection she generously extended to all.
Patti attended Louisiana State University, earning both her undergraduate and law degrees before embarking on a successful career as an oil and gas attorney in Louisiana, where she was quickly recognized for her tenacity. For a period of time, she chose to step back from her career to focus on raising her daughters, then eventually returned to her professional journey and completed a master’s degree in finance at Campbell University. With renewed passion, she resumed her legal work as an estate attorney, serving her North Carolina community with distinction and care.
Faith, family, and service were the cornerstones of Patti’s life. An active member of her church, Patti drew strength from her faith and participated regularly in Bible study. Patti’s warmth and generous spirit found joyful expression in family gatherings, where she delighted loved ones with her exceptional Cajun cooking — a cherished family tradition passed down through generations.
Throughout her illness, Patti faced every challenge with extraordinary bravery and hope, undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy and participating in clinical trials with the same perseverance that defined her life.
Patti was a remarkable wife, mother, and friend whose strength and love made us all better. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Patti’s life will be held at a later date, with details to follow. While flowers are appreciated, the family kindly requests alternatively donating to cancer research in Patti’s memory:
