Dominik David Scharding, 55, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at approximately 7 a.m.

He was born on June 11, 1970, in Santa Monica, Calif., to Vera Marie Scharding. He was preceded in death by his father, William John Scharding. Dominik was raised his entire life in Newbury Park, Calif., where he developed the skills, friendships, and passions that would carry with him throughout his life.

He is survived by his mother, Vera Marie Scharding and Marcus Schuyler Stone (stepfather); his brother, Bryan Paul Scharding (wife, Heather Jeanne Scharding); and his aunts, Antoinette Marie Egidi and Gemma Carlson.

Dominik built a lifelong career as a highly certified mechanic, known for his skill, precision, and dedication to helping others keep moving forward. Beyond his work, he had numerous passions that defined his life. He found joy in working with his hands, problem-solving, and sharing his talents with family and friends.

One of his greatest hobbies was playing pool — a love and passion passed down from his father, William, who played the game professionally. He also had a passion for working on vehicles, but especially trucks — and he always made it clear he was a “Chevy, not Ford” man, a nod that never failed to spark good-natured rivalry with his brother.

Memorial service information will be announced at a later date.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family.
