Mooresville Arts announced the award winners for the 43rd Annual Artoberfest Judged Show & Competition on Monday.
Seventy-six artists entered this year’s show, which features 134 entries. Artists from Mooresville, Cornelius, Huntersville, Charlotte and beyond are showcasing their talent and creativity in this exhibit, which is one of Mooresville Arts’ most popular and long-standing shows. Artwork ranges from paintings, drawings, mixed media, pottery, glass, and more.
“This was a great show with a vast blend of artists from different backgrounds, interests, and mediums, said Molly Kenny, gallery director of Anne Neilson Fine Art in Charlotte, who judged this year’s show and selected the top honors.

♦ 1st Place Award: Salon of Four-Kahlo, Lichtenstein, Matisse, and Pollock, Collage by Carleen Davis (Huntersville)
♦ 2nd Place Award: Sky Way, Mixed Media Painting by Barbara O’Reilly (Mooresville)
♦ 3rd Place Award: Sweet Life, Wood Art by Joe Muglia (Cornelius)
♦ Judge’s Choice Award: Magnolia Bench, Mosaic by Brenda Pokorny (Mooresville)
♦ Judge’s Choice Award: Mayes Homestead, Oil Painting by Bill Hook (Davidson)
♦ Judge’s Choice Award: Jazz in Paris, Oil Painting by Pat McCabe (Denver)
♦ Judge’s Choice Award: Butterfly, Acrylic Painting by Jayne Braxton (Cornelius)
♦ Judge’s Choice Award: Airline Trail, Acrylic Painting by Trevor Bowman (Mooresville)
Nearly 400 people attended the show’s opening and awards ceremony.
Artoberfest is on display in the Mooresville Arts Gallery through Thursday, November 13. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. Artwork is for sale and art sales directly benefit local artists and Mooresville Arts, a nonprofit art gallery.
