Mooresville Fire Rescue Units were dispatched to a report of a gas main that was ruptured by contractors working on West Plaza Drive in front of a Randy Marion dealership about 10:07 a.m. on Friday. Multiple Mooresville units responded to the scene along with a specialized Hazardous Materials unit and techs.

Authortities determined that an 8-inch, high-pressure line had been ruptured, and West Plaza Drive was closed at Charlotte Highway and Talbert Road. Firefighters evacuated all of the Randy Marion dealerships and monitored the are for possible gas build up in any of the buildings near the gas leak.

Utility workers responded to the scene and shut down the gas line around 11:40 a.m. West Plaza Drive was reopened to traffic around 12:25 p.m.
