Citing severe winds and deteriorating weather conditions, organizers of the 50th Carolina BalloonFest cut the festival short on Sunday.

“The safety of our guests, pilots, volunteers, and community has always been our highest priority. After close consultation with our flight operations and safety teams, the current and forecasted conditions no longer allow us to safely continue the festival,” organizers said in a statement. “While we’re deeply disappointed to end early, we’re so grateful for the two incredible days and a beautiful Sunday morning we shared together — filled with color, community, and the magic of ballooning.”
