Luther “L.T.” Taft Thomas Jr., 88, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.

L.T. was born May 5, 1937, in Gaston County to the late Luther Taft and Mary Penley Thomas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he worked in sales for BellSouth Publishing for many years.

In addition to his parents, L.T. was preceded in death by his brothers, Bud, Guy and Eddie, and sisters, Eula and Betty Sue.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cindy Yuhas (Phil) of New Jersey; his sons, Paul T. Thomas (Linda) of Charlotte and Bryan Thomas (Nicky) of Salisbury; his five grandchildren, Bryan Thomas Jr., Kendall Barr, Caitlyn Thomas, Jonathan Thomas and Michael Yuhas; and his three great-grandchildren, Ava, Jaxson and Julianna.

The family would like to extend special thanks to AnnaMarie Smith, his friend and caregiver, for 10 years.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, at Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly, officiated by Terry Thomas. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3 p.m. at the home of Mr. Thomas, 294 Marietta Road, Mooresville, NC 28115.
