Shane Dalton York

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Shane Dalton York of Duggins Road, Madison, in a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation on October 13, after receiving a report involving multiple sexual assaults involving juvenile victims, Campbell said. The crimes reportedly occurred during a 10-month period beginning in January of 2025 in northern Iredell County, according to the news release.

The case was assigned to ICSO Special Victims Unit Detective R. Olson.

During the investigation, detectives learned that York used his involvement with the rodeo community to form relationships with the juvenile victims, Campbell said, adding that York also victimized juveniles in Stokes County and Davidson County.

Detective Olson worked closely with investigators from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office throughout the investigation.

As a result of evidence obtained in the case, Detective Olson secured arrest warrants charging York with the following offenses in Iredell County: one count of felony human trafficking, two counts of felony statutory rape, and two counts of felony indecent liberties with a minor.

York also faces multiple felony charges in Davidson County and Stokes County, according to the news release.

On Friday, October 17, investigators arrested York at his residence.

Following his arrest, during an interview with detectives from all three counties, York confessed to the crimes, Campbell said.

York is currently being held at the Davidson County Detention Center under a $3 million secured bond, which includes charges from all three jurisdictions.

This case remains active and ongoing, and additional charges are expected in Iredell, Davidson, and Stokes counties, according to the news release.
