On Sunday, October 26, the South Iredell Fire Department held its annual fall fire festival. More than 1,000 community members came out to the event and were not disappointed. There were fire safety demonstrations throughout the day, including a smoke house that showed children how to evacuate their home during a fire and the proper way to use a fire extinguisher to extinguish an oven fire. There was structure fire, car fire and vehicle extrication demonstrations, along with bounce houses, food vendors and pumpkin painting with the Mooresville High School Junior ROTC helping the children.

The big attraction was helicopters from Atrium Health Medicenter Air and Novant Health Air Link that landed at the SIFD. The crews answered questions and allowed the community members get an up-close look at the lifesaving helicopters.

Under the direction of Chief Jordan Casarella, more than 30 members of the department volunteered their Sunday to make this event a great success.
