NB Mills Elementary School hosted its trunk-or-treat and family reading night on Thursday.
Student dressed up as Pokémon characters, princesses, dinosaurs, cheerleaders, superheroes and more while going around and trunk or treating.
Front Street Baptist Church, along with the school, provided candy, games, free books and lots of fun for all involved. Around 400 participated.
“We are so thankful that N.B. Mills hosts us. It’s super important for us to know our neighbors and they are less than a mile from the church,” said Claire Dagenhart, children’s ministry director at Front Street Baptist.
Principal Sally Schultz said this event usually has the best turnout for the school, which is why they hold their reading night on the same night.
“We want families to feel a strong sense of community. We have Front Street here and great staff support with some cars decorated. It’s a fun event for everyone,” Schultz said.
Students who attended reading night received a ticket to a special surprise in November.
Parent Jenna Hampton Cook, who is also the lead parent of the Parent Teacher Organization, said her two kids enjoyed reading night.
“They liked the games and being able to pick out a book. The free books are always a plus,” Cook explained. “I liked that the teachers had some great resources for helping your kids at home.”
