Samuel John Rotolo Jr. was born September 4, 1947, in Bridgeport, Conn. He died at home on November 3, 2025, after a short illness. He was the second child born to Samuel J. Rotolo Sr. and Jessie Monica Tolmie Rotolo. He graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield, Conn.

Samuel spent over 40 years as the owner of LightYear Studios, where he worked as a conceptual artist, graphic specialist, desktop publisher and multimedia/graphics expert in government and public venues. Some of the projects he worked on included the FTS2000 program to the Federal Communications Commission, the United Technologies for the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS), and Perkin Elmer for the Space Telescope program for NASA

He was loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Suzanne; his older sister, Nancy Jean Tamulis and her husband James Tamulis of Bluffton, S.C.; his children, Samuel J. Rotolo III and his wife Angela of Mooresville, N.C., Terry Wallace and her husband John of Iron Station, N.C., and Rebecca Mercure and her husband Jeff of Waxhaw, N.C.; and his grandchildren: Kali, Jessica, Mackenzie, Steven and his wife Hannah, Elizabeth, and Ethan.

He had a love for all music, especially the blues, a love of art, especially the vibrant colors of Peter Max and Itzchak Tarkay, and a love of cars and his motorcycle. He played and taught the guitar. He was a Master Mason at the Olive Branch Lodge 114 and a member of the Shriners.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel, and mother, Jessie.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville.

Funeral services will take place following the calling hours at 11am at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

He will be buried in a private cemetery.
