Special to IFN

Troutman Elementary School teachers Bethany Crisp and Emily Hawkins’ students honored the veterans connected to their classrooms by writing heartfelt thank-you notes.

“We love our veterans and are deeply grateful for their service and sacrifice to protect our country and our freedoms,” Crisp shared.

As part of this project, students learned about the importance of Veterans Day, what it means to be a veteran, and the many ways we can honor those who have served. The students also explored the different branches of the military and how they work together to keep the United States safe.

“This is one of our favorite projects each year—it gives our students the chance to learn, reflect, and show appreciation to the brave men and women who have served our nation,” Crisp added.
