Elvin “Ron” Fredrick Valentine, 85, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 20, 1940, in West Palm Beach, Fla., and raised in Alexandria, Va., where he sold newspapers from the age of 9 to 17. He was the son of the late William Earl Elvin Valentine and Frances Wright Windt.

Mr. Valentine was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Spain for three years. He received his associate degree from Charlotte College, nowy known as UNC-Charlotte. Ron worked for UNX & Diamond Chemical Company. He was a member of the Riverside Masonic Lodge #606 in Catawba, N.C., for 56 years. He was also a member of the Oasis Shriners in Charlotte, past president of the Statesville Shrine Club and Oasis Camping Club, a member of the Oasis Steel Drum band and the Royal Order of Jesters Charlotte Court 109.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the father who raised him, David M. Windt; and brother, Donn Windt.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Wittenberg Valentine; daughter, Stacy Pritchard (Davis Faw); son, Mitchell Valentine (Chellie); stepdaughter, LeeAnna Lott (Brian); brother, David C. Windt (Anillia); brother-in-law, Bill Wittenberg (Julia); grandchildren, Luke Pritchard, Tanner Valentine, and Evan Valentine; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and his furbabies, Otis and Missy.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Haddock officiating followed by Masonic Funeral Rites. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
