Sherika Danielle Howell, 46, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Sherika was born on September 9, 1979, to Karen Howell.

Sherika was a 1997 graduate of Alexander Central High School and attended Gardner Webb University. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her godson, singing and competing in pageants. She held the title of Junior Miss, Teen Miss Alexander County and Ms. Ebony as well as other titles. During her reign as Teen Miss Alexander County, Sherika organized the first SAVE Club (Students Against Violence Everywhere) in Alexander County and won National honors. She was the youngest person and the first African American to receive the Governor’s Award. Sherika accepted Christ at an early age and served as the director of the youth choir.

Sherika was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Robert Howell and Henrietta Howell; great grandparents, Harold and Eliza Moser, and Ruby Mae Howell; and best friend/sister, Misty Crane Lackey.

Those left to cherish her memories include her mother, Karen Howell; special sisters, Alisha Lackey, Lavonda Lineberger, Tausha Dagenhart, Sonja Lipford, and Tomeka Lipford; and her godson, Josh Brown, who was the love of her life; and her godparents, Elijah and Althea Tillman of Charlotte.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Brown and Rev. Mark Sharpe Officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m. prior to the service.

The body will lie in state on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 3 until 5 p.m.
