Ronald David Mitcham, 87, of Mooresville, N.C., completed his journey on earth on November 12, 2025.

Born on September 10, 1938, in Kings Mountain, N.C., to Leo and Tan Mitcham, Ronnie graduated from Ellenboro High School and attended Gardner-Webb College before proudly serving four years in the U.S. Air Force. He went on to enjoy a 40-year career with IBM before his well-earned retirement. Ronnie was married to his high school sweetheart, Carol, for 63 years, and together they shared a remarkable 70 years of love and companionship.

Everyone who met Ronnie was touched by his kindness, gentle spirit, and quick wit. He always had a dad joke, a grin, or a silly face ready to make someone smile. He loved his girls more than anything on earth and lived his life as a devoted husband, father, and Poppy. Though he had a lifelong passion for the speed and shine of hot rods, his greatest joy came from the life he built with his family.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol Newton Mitcham; daughters Nicole Mitcham Kenney and husband Jim of Mooresville, and Leah Mitcham Rafuse and husband Cliff of Statesville; and great-niece Addison Rae Bland of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on November 22, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Mooresville. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the Mitcham family. Condolences may be made to the family at www.cavin-cook.com.
