More than 200 attendees enjoyed the fourth annual Heart of Jazz at the Statesville Civic Center on November 7, raising a record $88,000. Net proceeds will benefit Iredell Health Foundation’s Cardiac & Vascular Care Fund.
“It was truly an unforgettable evening in support of the Cardiac and Vascular Fund,” shared Kim Holland, Iredell Health Foundation development coordinator. “Thanks to the remarkable generosity of our guests, every dollar raised will stay right here in our community, supporting patients facing financial challenges and helping us invest in advanced equipment and technology. Together, we’re making a lasting impact and strengthening cardiac and vascular care at Iredell Health System.”
Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the world and the leading cause of death in the U.S., killing over 375,000 Americans a year.
The Cardiac & Vascular Care Fund supports the purchase of new cardiac and vascular equipment, patient assistance, and educational activities. This fund is critical for Iredell Health System to continue providing cutting edge care for cardiac and vascular patients. Recently, Cardiovascular Rehab received $100,000 from the fund to purchase a new telemetry system.
Heart of Jazz features music, food, spirits, and dancing. This year’s evening began with a cocktail hour featuring an open bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Dinner was catered by Café 220.
John Green, Iredell Health System president & CEO, welcomed attendees and shared the importance of cardiovascular care. His remarks were followed by patient testimonials and a moving testimonial from Lisa Warren, director of Cardiopulmonary Rehab for Iredell Health System, of remarkable recoveries she has witnessed through support from the Cardiac & Vascular Care Fund.
“We had a patient recently that came in with a walker and a big oxygen tank that his wife was rolling behind him,” shared Warren. “After he finished his 36 sessions, that patient was running on the treadmill with no walker or oxygen. What if a patient like him couldn’t afford to come to rehab? That’s what the Foundation is all about. Helping people like him.”
Jeff Corbett, local radio personality and writer, facilitated a live auction and raffle. The evening concluded with dancing and music by N-Spire Band.
The event was made possible thanks to the generosity of sponsors and donors. Sponsors for the event included Bob and Sandy Fotsch, Piedmont Drilling and Blasting, L. Gordon Iron & Metal Company, Ben and Elizabeth Goins, Piedmont HealthCare and Piedmont HealthCare Cardiovascular Specialists, McCulloch England Architects, Kewaunee Scientific, G&G Forest Products, Mooresville Realty and Princeton Homes, Rodgers Builders, Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Denso, Capital Management Group of the Carolinas, Highland K9, blueharbor bank, and Four Corners Framing Gallery.
