Grant William Bolmer Jr., known to everyone as “Bill,” passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on January 5, 1942, in Raleigh, N.C., he was the son of Grant William Bolmer Sr. and Dorothy Hannah Bolmer. Bill loved golf, playing cards, and his garden. He especially loved home-grown tomatoes and canning anything he grew. As an avid sports fan, he loved every sport, whether college or professional. He was most passionate about Carolina Tar Heels basketball and Mooresville High School football. He was a season ticket holder and attended nearly all the home games. He enjoyed catching up with friends almost as much as the games themselves.
He owned and operated Bill’s Greenfield Market for many years and loved Mooresville. He would often reminisce about having a paper route, which allowed him to ride his bike all over town as a kid. He knew every street and businesses (past and present), and cherished his friendships with many Mooresville High School classmates, who have always remained close since grade school. Bill held a special place in his heart for Gail and Wayne Frick as well as many friends, nephews, nieces and neighbors. He truly loved his dog Denali. You could always find him with her in his favorite spot on his front porch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and the love of his life, Joyce Brown Bolmer; second wife Margie Hunsucker Bolmer; and his sisters, Pam Bolmer Beaver and Barbie Bolmer Whitener.
Bill is survived by his wife Mary Bolmer; his sons, Chuck Bolmer (Sheelah) and Jon Bolmer (Amy); and his beloved grandchildren, Ryan Grayce (Haley), Chance Bolmer, Issy Bolmer, Katie Bolmer, Lane Bolmer, and Luke Bolmer (Anna). He was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Beckam Grayce, Fynley Grayce, Cash Bolmer, Ava Bolmer, and Cole Bolmer.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, November 22, at 11 a.m. at Triplett Methodist Church in Mooresville with the service immediately following at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. After the graveside service, lunch will be served as a celebration of life in the Family Life Center. We hope that you can join and share your fondest memories of Bill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Triplett Table Food Ministry at Triplett Church, 838 Mazeppa Road, Mooresville, NC 28115 or Prospect Presbyterian Church, 9425 NC-152, Mooresville, NC 28115.
