The Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department held its annual Chicken BBQ at their Station No. 1 on Ruritan Park Road on Saturday. Volunteers showed up early and cooked more than 700 pounds of chicken to go along with baked beans, slaw, dinner rolls and secret sauce that made up the plates. The money raised will help the SPVFD better serve the community. Fire Chief Scotty Abernathy expressed his gratitude to the community for its support of the department.
