Roy Clifford Crouch Jr. (“Dunner”), 74, of Statesville, N.C., passed away at his home peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025. He was born on March 16, 1951, in Statesville to the late Roy Clifford Crouch Sr. and Betty Faye Lippard Holdsclaw.
Roy worked at General Electric in Hickory until retirement. He loved his fur babies very much. Roy had a silly sense of humor; he was always playing tricks and making jokes. Many people comment that Dunner made them laugh so hard. Roy also loved cars, mostly the older models. He was a super smart mechanic, and he could diagnose a car’s troubles just by listening to it run. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, pulling for his Fords to win, and football games and his old westerns. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, gardening, and he was very proud of his pumpkins. He enjoyed going to Greg’s BBQ and flirting with the staff, and there were other places he liked to frequently visit, including White Oaks, Sharons Flea Market and Dollar General.
Roy was preceded in death by his loving parents, Roy Crouch Sr. and Betty Faye Holdsclaw; his stepson, Billy Benge; and his best friends, Peanut and Scrappy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Bobbi Jo Crouch (Marcus Brown); two grandsons, Dylan Jones (Miranda) and Dalton Jones (Ashleigh); one adopted granddaughter, Aubree Knight; and a great grandson, Zayde Jones, all of Statesville; and his siblings, Ronnie (Vickie), Steve (Jackie), Cammie (Billy), and Vic Crouch; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; two special fur babies, Silver and Fido; one very special friend, Tammy Carter; and many other friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 28, in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Norman Humane, 2106 Charlotte Hwy., Mooresville, NC 28117.
Arrangements for Mr. Crouch are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
