John Daniel Herron Sr., 70, of Salisbury, N.C., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Born January 24, 1955, in Iredell County, he was a son of Eva Louise McClure Brown and the late Lonzo Herron.

Mr. Herron retired after 23 years of loyal and honorable service from the U.S. Army as First Sergeant. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and growing gourmet mushrooms. He also loved his home and land.

Mr. Herron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Criscenia Hager Herron; son, John Daniel Herron Jr.; grandson, Benjamin Blaze Herron; brothers, Gary, Lonnie and Boyd Herron; sisters, Penny Fowler and Tina Walker; and numerous nephews and nieces whom he loved.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
