Ervin Keaton Sr., 90, of Statesville, N.C., peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 26, 2025, at his residence. He was born on July 9, 1935, the beloved son of the late Curtis Keaton and Effie Woods Keaton. Ervin was united in marriage to Daisy Lee Moton Keaton, who survives. Their partnership was one built on love, faith, and mutual devotion, and Daisy’s steadfast care was a blessing throughout their life together.

Ervin was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Keaton, Vernon Keaton, Marvin Keaton, and Walter “Hawkeye” Summers, as well as one infant sister.

He was a devoted member of St. John Baptist Church and lived a life of faith, service, and dedication to his family and community. A man of quiet strength and gentle spirit, Ervin found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved listening to quartet music; one of his favorite groups was the Dixie Hummingbirds. He also enjoyed reading and taking long, peaceful walks. His thoughtful nature and warm presence touched all who knew him.

Ervin leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Daisy of the home; and three sons, Ervin (Robbie) Keaton Jr. of Durham, Jeffrey Lewis Keaton of Charlotte and Darryl (Brenda) Keaton of Fayetteville. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, James Moton, Henry Moton, Jimmy Ray Jones, and Johnny Torrence; and sisters-in-law, Lena Keaton, Mae Lois Gillon, Shirley Imes, Dorothy Reid, Mary Frances Jones, and Beatrice Moton.

He will be lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren, Shelby (Barry) Tripp, Alexis Imanie Keaton, Gabrielle A’ishah Keaton, Grant Quincy Keaton, and Mason Noah Keaton; his two great-grandchildren, Karter Wynne Tripp and Daisy J’nell Tripp; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family and friends.

Ervin’s legacy of love, kindness, and quiet, wisdom will live on through all who had the blessing of knowing him. May he rest in everlasting peace.
