Iredell County Commissioner Scottie Brown has filed to run for re-election in 2026.

“I will continue serving the county — all 200,000 people and not just one or two,” Brown, a Republican, said in his campaign announcement. “I will not make promises like I can do away with property tax. There’s nobody in this state that can do that.

“It takes a lot of money to run this county as far as Fire, Sheriff, EMS, schools and the parks,” he added. “We have one of the greatest counties in the State of North Carolina, and I will continue to make sure to keep it that way.”

Brown, who owns Zootastic Park, was elected to a four-year term in 2020. He finished third in the November 2024 election and won a two-year term.

In his campaign statement, Brown said he supports term limits. If re-elected, “this will be my last term,” he added.

The seats currently held by Brown, Bert Connolly and Brad Stroud will be on the ballot in November.

Candidate filing for the 2026 elections, which began December 1, runs through December 19.

The primary election is scheduled for March 3.
