Emma Jean Wellman Rankin, 74, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at her home. She was born February 25, 1951, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Roland Wellman and Mary Lou Miller Wellman.

Emma had worked as a nurse at Bells View Rest Home and was of the Christian faith. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and watching Dr. Stanley on TV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry David Rankin; siblings, Glenn L. Wellman, John H. Wellman, Thomas R. Wellman, Zachery Wellman, and Chalma Wellman.

Those left to cherish and honor Emma’s memories include her children, Renardaiti Linney and wife Stefanie, Dupree Rankin, Travina Davidson, and Travis Rankin; her grandchildren, Kendra King and husband Terrence, Chalisa Flowers, Deltrich Lewis and wife Fantasia, Albanee Lackey, Markcavious Parsons, Emily Lanier, and Angel Lanier; and a host of other grandchildren; her great-grandchildren, Kamren King, Kassie King, Khalia King, Maliya Welch, Jaxson Welch, Nova Lewis, Na’vaya Taylor, Ii’yahna Little John, A’niya Lackey, Morgan Parsons, and Carter Parsons, and a host of other great-grandchildren; her siblings, Kathy J. Wellman, Larry Wellman, Clayton B. Wellman, William G. Wellman, and Jackie Wellman; special niece, Sheryl Wellman-Bye; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1 p.m. in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sterling Howard will officiate.
