It is with much sorrow and sadness that we announce the death of our dear Mother, Nana, Aunt, wife and friend to many. Teresa Ferrell Menscer Lambert Trivette was born on January 15, 1954, at the old Long Hospital in Statesville, N.C. She was the daughter of Rex Hayden Menscer and Nobie Estelle Pinnix Menscer. Teresa died of a heart attack at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 9:24 p.m.
Teresa‘s first marriage was to Ron Lambert. They had two sons, Zane Lambert, who preceded her in death on July 31, 2024, and Brandon Lambert (Heather Day). Brandon has a daughter, Annabelle Lee, who was the light of her Nana’s life. Annabelle, your Nana loved you more than anything else in the world.
Teresa had a special grandfather, Samuel Pinnix, who held her in his lap when she was a little child and told her that he loved her. She had so many fond memories of him.
Teresa graduated from South Iredell High School in 1972. She enjoyed going to her class reunions to see her ole friends and share memories. Teresa was an active member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. She loved her church family dearly and had special friendships with many church members.
Teresa was an excellent artist. Painting, making candy dishes from old used pickle jars, making animals, flowers and other objects from polymer clay were her favorite pastimes. At one time she owned her own ceramic shop. She loved to enter artwork items at the Iredell County Fair; she always kept and cherished the ribbons she won. Teresa enjoyed going to craft shows to both sell and to buy. She quite often bought more items from competitors then she earned in her sales.
Teresa was a faithful member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. She was a constant prayer warrior. She was a very tender-hearted and compassionate person. She always wanted to stop and help homeless people that she would see out on the streets, especially during cold weather. She was a member of the Field & Stream Garden Club. She was also a member of the Iredell County ECA group. Teresa especially loved babies and young children and singing silly songs to them. She was a caregiver to many elderly people during their final months and days. At a chance meeting in April 2014 at a church fundraiser supper, she happened to sit at the table with Mike Trivette. They struck up a conversation with each other. They found that they both had many similar and common interests: love of plants and flowers, yard sales and Flea Markets and a host of other things. One thing led to another and eight months later on December 24, 2014, Mike and Teresa were married. This coming Christmas Eve would have been 11 years. Teresa was also preceded in death by her sister Margie Menscer Everhart and a nephew, who was more like a brother to her, Thomas Keith Abernethy. She is survived by her nieces, Rhonda Abernethy Hunt and her husband Steve, also Paula, Abernethy Woody and her husband Robert, she also has three nephews, Darren Warren and his wife Lynette, James Warren, and Scott Warren and his wife Angela.
Teresa also has the following great nieces and nephews who were more like grandchildren to her, Tyler, Garrett, and Victoria Henderson, Tristan, Matthew Lucas, and Jackson Woody.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Diamond Hill Baptist Church in Statesville. Her funeral will be Saturday December 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in the family plot beside her son Zane and her parents. Flowers will be accepted if you wish, but the preference would be that you purchase flowers and give to someone you love and tell them how much they mean to you. We never know when our last day will be. If you prefer money can be contributed to the Diamond Hill Baptist Church Building Fund in her memory or contributions may also be given to the Alzheimer’s foundation of North Carolina.
It’s a sad time, but Teresa is in Heaven celebrating. She and Mike both love Christmas. As we requested at our wedding for everyone to wear their best Christmas outfits, it’s only fitting at this time of year to wear your festive Christmas outfits to her funeral. Thanks for all the calls, texts, Facebook posts, but most of all for the kind words and prayers.
Arrangements for Teresa are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
